ONENESS

Ubunye is a vibrant Afro-jazz band bringing together contemporary jazz, Afro-pop and South African musical traditions in a sound full of groove, warmth and powerful vocal energy. Led by keyboard player, songwriter and musical director David Evans, the band features vocalists Xolani Mbatha and Nokuthula Zondi, alongside Steve Hanley on drums, Nik Svarc on guitar and Kenny Higgins on bass.
โ–ถ Hey Now
Taking its name from the idea of UNITY and ONENESS, Ubunye speaks to connection without boundaries - a coming together of people, cultures and shared human experience. With two powerful South African vocalists at its centre, Ubunye's live sound is rich in harmony, deep in rhythm and full of uplifting energy. Winners of Best UK Jazz Ensemble at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2023, and recently praised with a 5โ˜… review in BBC Music Magazine and 4โ˜… in Songlines, the band bring a live show full of connection, movement and celebration to Hyde Park Book Club this May.
